Ponmudi is a delightful hill station some 60km north-east of Trivandrum in an area rich with forests The winding approach road has 22 hairpin bends with scenic views at every turn.

This ecologically important region is ideal trekking country, Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary is nearby with Asian elephants, sambar, leopards, lion tailed macaques, more than 400 bird species and 300 species of butterflies. Several waterfalls, Ponmudi Falls close to the hill station, Kallar Falls on the route to Ponmudi and Meenmutty Falls which is a long trek through the forest and requires a permit from the Forest Department.

Agasthyarkoodam is one of highest peaks in the Western Ghats, this famous wilderness region can only we explored with permission from the Forest Department.
